Why Whole Wheat?
Whole wheat is produced from whole wheat grains; these grains contain bran, germ and endosperm – in contrast to refined grains. These elements of wheat are what constitute the higher nutrient levels in protein, antioxidants and dietary fiber – which is important for regulating the digestive system. A high fiber diet has been shown to prevent some forms of cancer, gastrointestinal ailments, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and gum disease. Whole wheat is also rich in many essential minerals and vitamins whose benefits are lost in the refined conventional wheat products. Complex carbohydrates found in whole grains are gradually utilized by the body to help maintain high energy levels for extended periods of time.
